Manual Transmissions and Axles transfer power from the engine to the axles and out to the wheels.  Transmissions and axles provide gear ratio's that match engine speeds and torque to driving conditions.  Manual transmissions are connected to the engine through a clutch that allows the driver to engage and disengage the engine from the transmission.  Axles permit wheels on the same axle to turn at different speeds allowing wheels to travel on different arcs when turning.
